So when men hang out together, it’s called a mantourage: four or five guys walking around – if you’ve ever seen the TV show Entourage – every man has his version of their own entourage. It’s called a mantourage.

A lot of guys just hang with the same guys every weekend. You’ve seen these mantourages cruise the bars every Friday and Saturday night – usually there’s a group of guys consistently drinking as if drinking were a sport!

They actually plan out their meals – “hey dude, we’ve got to eat pizza at 7:00, start drinking at 8:30, and you don’t want to have that extra slice because the alcohol will kick in faster!”

Living in California, there are lots of mantourages running around. If you’ve ever gone down to Manhattan Beach, there’s mantourages on the beach – they’re usually the group of guys with the keg, hanging out all day long like they are 20 years old again!

But they’re not. Then they go back to their group house that they share in their thirties, and they sit down on the lawn furniture that decorates their living room – they thought that was cool!

So what do women do? Well, women join chickourages!

Perfection Do You Desire It?

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

I’m driving through Brentwood this morning – on one of those days I don’t particularly like. What I don’t particularly like is the heat. I would prefer to live in San Francisco year-round – a few days in the 80s thrown in to lots of days in the 60s and 50s – a mixture of all different types of weather.

But speaking of mixtures, life is a mixture. It’s really funny, because we all have this ideal. If you think about it, men have been masturbating to Maxim magazine models, Playboy centerfolds, Penthouse centerfolds since they were little boys and realized that something neat and fun actually comes out of their own dick and makes them feel good!

So if you think about it, men have been fantasizing about these women for most of their lives. Now what have women been doing? They don’t have a dick, but they do masturbate, as we all know. Women have been fantasizing about that 6’2” guy – the one from the Bride magazines, Sean Connery playing leading man roles, George Clooney, Brad Pitt.

Bernie Mac

Monday, August 11th, 2008

The other day, Bernie Mac died. I found this really bizarre. I wasn’t a huge Bernie Mac fan – I thought he was great in a few movies like Ocean’s 11, 12, and 13, and he was a funny man. He had a great zest for life.

But, man, he was 50! It’s just awful.

This is something that I’ve written about before – I wrote about the movie The Bucket List – where we always think we have endless amounts of time left. We’re always waiting, just hanging out, and waiting, waiting, waiting.

We’re saving money to go to Italy when we’re old. We’re saving money for a rainy day. We’re going to buy that house that we really want – in ten years. We’re going to go on that vacation 14 years from now. We’re going to get that dog that we’ve always wanted in another four years.

Practice Your Storytelling

Practice Your Storytelling By David Wygant

Do you know what is great? Practicing your storytelling. Women are attracted – actually, people in general are attracted to people who are charismatic and can tell a good story.

I know I’ve written blogs about telling stories before, but I want to go even deeper into this today. There are so many emotions that you can convey to people through stories. They tell something about your personality.

When you are there and you are talking to somebody, and they are in quiet mode – sometimes we’re in quiet mode, sometimes we’re in talkative mode – but let’s say this person is in quiet mode. All of a sudden, you start doing the talking – you’d better be interesting! All of us are interesting because we’ve all done things in our lives – but the difference is in the way we share that story.

Do You Have Scarcity Mentality?

Friday, June 13th, 2008

Scarcity Mentality By David Wygant

I recently sat down with one of my clients. Here is the actual transcript. Enjoy and have a great Friday!!

Markus: One thing we were talking about yesterday is the scarcity mentality: thinking all the time that you’re missing something. You walk in the city and see a square full of people, and many times you think, oh, I have to be there too. Because everyone is doing it, and if I’m not there, I will definitely miss something.

But on the other hand, maybe it’s just better to go home then, because you had a good evening anyway. You can go to bed early, and get up on Sunday and have another great day.

But this scarcity thing plays into many different parts of life. For example, you have a girlfriend, and you constantly try to call her and please her, and you run after her, because you think that if you don’t do it, she will be offended. You will miss something, she will miss something, and you will not have the opportunity to be with her again.

Or the opportunity to find another person – it’s always this thinking that I will miss something. If I don’t do that now, I will never have the opportunity to do that again. So the question is, how do we overcome that?

Become Observant

Become Observant By David Wygant

In order to become more observant, your mindset needs to be this: everything you see you need to look at with a child-like curiosity. Look at everything like you’ve never seen it before.

The way you need to live life is to walk through a neighborhood every single day like you’ve never been there before. Every day you walk through that neighborhood, notice new things. Notice new buildings. Notice the color of the sky. Notice the new trees in springtime. Notice the new buds coming up. Notice everything you can possibly notice.

Flirt On A Train by David Wygant

I have been all over Europe and it has some amazing underground train systems. This is unlike America, where we just sit in our cars all day long and curse at people in traffic – except of course for New York City, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, and some other cities – I think Philly might have a train.

But most of the US doesn’t have an underground system. When I was in Europe I was sitting with my client Pete, and Pete wanted to know: how do you meet people on the train?

Well, I said, it’s really easy. You have to put yourself in everybody else’s shoes and their emotions.
